RED OAK SOFTWARE AND KILLDARA INTRODUCE WEB SERVICES
SOLUTION PACK
STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP DELIVERS CRUCIAL LEGACY APPLICATION WEB
SERVICES
November 6, 2001 - MOUNTAIN LAKES, NJ - Red Oak Software and
Killdara Corporation announce a
technology partnership and the immediate availability of the Web
Services Solution Pack.
The Web Services Solution Pack combines the leading edge Web
Services technology from Killdara with Red Oak's Application Integration
Framework suite of products, resulting in a complete, easily
created, efficiently managed, Web Services product. The Solution Pack
produces scalable, adaptable and noninvasive Web Services through the
integration of any back end application function. Support is provided
for all IBM mainframe, AS/400, Unix and HTML-based applications.
The Solution Pack unites Red Oak's Legacy Integrator or Web
Integrator with Killdara's Web Services messaging system, IBX. IBX is
pure Java software that supports Web Services applications in an
innovative lightweight architecture. The software can operate as a
container for both client and service code in order to extend
application logic for use in new Web Services. Legacy Integrator and
Web Integrator are also 100% Java products that enable the quick,
trouble-free capture of application functionality for the creation of
Java beans. By coupling these technologies, all existing legacy and web
application functions can be easily captured and efficiently wrapped for
publication as Web Services.
The Web Services Solution Pack will help companies improve margins,
reduce time to market and effectively manage their relationships with
other participants in an enterprise business network by permitting them
to employ Web Services to support fully automated relationships across
multiple enterprises. As one of the first products to actually deliver
on the promise of Web Services, the Solution Pack makes it possible for
organizations to quickly and cost effectively implement a proprietary
combination of messaging protocols, Web Services integration,
application integration, data exchange, security and support for open
standards.
Companies using this product can easily expose local application
functionality as Web Services and just as easily connect to remote Web
Services. In addition, the Solution Pack supports a "pluggable
protocol" architecture allowing companies to implement their choice of
communications and messaging protocols through the simple modification
of XML templates.
The Web Services Solution Pack features: - Broad support for
open standards, such as SOAP and XML Schema, ensures that Solution Pack
will interoperate with a wide array of other software products, now and
in the future.
- Multiple standard communications protocols (including HTTP and
Secure Sockets) provide enterprises with optimal flexibility.
- Automated integration support for all 3270, 5250, VT and HTML
applications.
- Use of JMS as a pluggable transport enables easy integration
with existing messaging infrastructure.
- Easy Java to XML serialization and de-serialization that
dramatically shortens development time and simplifies translation
between multiple data formats.
- Application code can be written in Java or a variety of
scripting languages, including JavaScript, VBScript, Python, Tcl and
PerlScript.
- XML configuration files and service descriptors for rapid
development and ease of administration.
"Red Oak and Killdara understand that Web Services will allow the
seamless interconnection of all business data, applications and
processes across the Internet. We have both engineered our products
with the philosophy that inter-enterprise interactions are not simply
point-to-point, but more importantly, will involve multiple enterprises,
each of which has made different infrastructure choices and
investments," said Killdaraís Geoffrey Smith. "By combining our
products into the Solution Pack, we have developed a flexible, secure
and cost effective means for capturing application functionality as Java
beans and sending, receiving, routing and transforming messages to and
from them over a business network - the first real-world integrated
solution for making Web Services work."
"By joining our technologies, Killdara and Red Oak have created the
first solution for capturing applications and making them available to
employees, partners, vendors and suppliers over the Web as true Web
Services. Our experience with application integration, with Legacy
Integrator and Web Integrator, is a natural fit with Killdaraís
industry leading Web Services capabilities. By using our combined
products, companies will be able to benefit from real results - rapidly,
efficiently and effectively," said George Cummings, chief executive
officer of Red Oak.
