bXML is a set of specifications that provides an open XML-based infrastructure which enables the widespread use of electronic business information in an interoperable, secure and consistent manner. Designed to create a global framework for exchanging electronic business information, ebXML adds value by lowering the barrier of entry to electronic business for small and medium-sized enterprises.
ebXML was created through a joint effort by The United Nations body for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (UN/CEFACT) and the Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards (OASIS). This initiative was established to develop a technical framework that will enable XML to be utilized in a consistent manner for the exchange of all electronic business data.
